Dyslexia Poem
by Bill Hoke.

Gene 15
So that it!
A protein inhibitor nicked my dictionary
grazed my spatial relationships
nearly took out the valence charts
made the quadratic equation dance and jump
turned dilemma to dilemna
occasionally to occassionally
occurred to ocured
and so on.
Dyslexia, they call it
indiscriminately
turns God to dog
bad to dad
tad to fab
led to lead
been there
or is that 'their'?
Is this dyslexia a diagnosis
or a category
a label to file us un neatly
as a compound sentence
too difficult to diagram or just
simply as under performers or
laden with a gift (some say)?
So it all comes down to Gene 15
a few crossed polypeptides, out of line
exons, upside down introns
or just a rarely occurring phenotype?
You decide.
