The
Dyslexic Advantage: Unlocking the Hidden Potential of the Dyslexic Brain - Without question, this is the book of the year for all of us who are working with dyslexic children and adults!
We are all familiar with listings of the positive aspects of dyslexia, such as the 'Success' page of this website. However, what the two neurologists Brock and Fernette Eide do in this readable book is to present a detailed analysis of the differences in the brains of dyslexic children and adults which, given the right circumstances, can allow them to achieve fulfilling lives and careers.
The book details the strengths in Material Reasoning, Interconnected Reasoning, Narrative Reasoning and Dynamic Reasoning which allow dyslexic individuals to put their own special talents to good use.
Whilst recognizing the daily challenges which any dyslexic person faces, the book has been the subject of a BBC radio program and is going to revolutionize the way that dyslexia is viewed by the general public.

The
Dyslexic Adult in a Non-dyslexic World - It is refreshing to find a book devoted
to the experiences of dyslexic adults, since much of the available literature
focuses on children. 'The Dyslexic Adult in a non-dyslexic world' is a welcome
addition to my bookshelf. It is eminently readable and combines an 'academic'
understanding of the issues with down-to-earth examples based on interviews with
dyslexic adults.

Supporting
Adult Learners with Dyslexia - by Sally McKeown, pub NIACE.
Tutors are
determined to provide appropriate learning opportunities for the full range of
learners who are coming to their classes. Some worry that they are not doing enough
to support learners with dyslexia and wonder if they should be doing something
special and different to meet the needs of this particular group. This book draws
on the experience of many practitioners and outlines some of the key questions
tutors should ask themselves, their colleagues and their learners. It shows how
bringing together appropriate online resources, software, accessibility options
and paper-based materials can increase confidence and make learning more enjoyable.

Dyslexia in the Workplace - an Introductory Guide - Comprehensive guide to how dyslexic adults in employment can improve their skills, and how their employers and other professionals can help.
‘Never before have I read a book that allows me to learn about myself in a style that is as clear, compassionate and focused as Diana Bartlett and Sylvia Moody’s in Dyslexia in the Workplace. It offers hope, encourages understanding and teaches ways to navigate the complications that adult life brings to the person who learns differently. This book is the ultimate in positive thinking and reality-based, easy-to-implement solutions.'

Adult Dyslexia - a Guide for the Workplace - Gary FitzGibbon and Brian O'Connor, pub Wiley.
This is an excellent book that has practical advice for both professionals and dyslexics themselves. It is very readable and in my experience it is the first text that succeeds in distinguishing adult dyslexics from children with this condition; it presents a very strong case for reassessing the validity of what educationalists say about dyslexia and for improving how dyslexics are accommodated in workplaces.
